Who Was Tina Turner?
Anna Mae Bullock, known as Tina Turner, was a singer who was born on November 26, 1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee.
In 1957, Turner began her musical career when she joined her ex-husband, Ike Turner’s band, King of Rhythm.
At the time, Turner created music under the name Little Ann.
However, in 1960, Bullock made her debut under the alias Tina Turner after her hit duet with ex-husband A Fool in Love.
After her debut under her new name, Tina and Ike released hit after hit, including her famous songs, River Deep – Mountain High, and Proud Mary.
During the 60s and 70s, Tina was unhappily in a toxic relationship with Ike.
By 1978, the singer divorced Ike and a few years later, in the 80s, she began her successful career as a solo artist.
Turner has been dubbed the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll because of her unique vocals and eccentric stage presence.
Throughout her solo career, Turner has received eight Grammy Awards.
In 1991, Turner was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame along with Ike, and later in 2021, the artist was inducted independently.

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, Turner’s representative announced that the iconic musician had passed away at the age of 83.
in a statementthey said: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ passed away peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness at her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.”
Highlighting Turner’s success over the years, the representative ended the statement by asking for privacy as her family mourns her loss.
“There will be a private funeral ceremony attended by close friends and family.
“Please respect the privacy of her family at this difficult time. Further press inquiries will not be answered.”
Turner is survived by her husband Erwin Bach, and her three children.
Turner has another child, their name is Ronnie Turner, but he sadly passed away in December 2022, due to colon cancer.

As news of Turner’s death broke, celebrities across social media paid tribute to the late artist.
Tina’s manager of 30 years, Roger Davies, paid tribute, saying: “Tina was a unique and remarkable force of nature with her strength, incredible energy and tremendous talent.
“From the first day I met her in 1980, she completely believed in herself when few others did at the time.
“It has been a privilege and an honor to be a good friend as well as her manager for over 30 years,” concluded Davies.
Magic Johnson wrote: “Rest in peace to one of my favorite artists of all time, rock n’ roll legend Tina Turner.
“I’ve seen her many, many times and hands down, she gave one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. She always gave you your money’s worth.”
