A picture is worth a thousand words, but this particular photo of Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks at the Cannes Film Festival could just use a few more. For clarity.

While walking the red carpet at the premiere of Wes Anderson’s latest film, Asteroid CityWilson and Hanks were photographed in the middle of what appeared to be a heated conversation with an unknown man in a tuxedo.

With his index finger up (though, not particularly directed at the man) and his forehead, Hanks appeared quite angry in the photo. Wilson, for her part, also raised her index finger, while the anonymous man seemed to gesture rather ambiguously.

The tabloids, being the tabloids, were quick to sensationalize the photos page six write the headline,Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson apparently scold husband at ‘Asteroid City’ Cannes premiere.” The Daily Mail wrote: “Raving Private Ryan! Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson protest with a red carpet staffer while attending the 76th Cannes Film Festival premiere of Asteroid City.”

But Wilson spoke in the form of an Instagram story. And the real story? This is not a story. It was simply so loud on the red carpet that they had to shout to communicate effectively, and that’s just what Hanks’ face looks like when he shouts.

On her stories, wilson posted a screenshot of an article The Daily Mail. In addition, she wrote in white text on a red background: “It’s called I can’t hear you. People are shouting. what did you say Where are we supposed to go? But that doesn’t sell stories! Good try. We had a wonderful time! go see Asteroid City.”
