Phillip Schofield’s brother jailed for ‘emotionally blackmailing’ boy into sex acts and forcing him to watch porn
PHILLIP Schofield’s brother was jailed today for “emotionally blackmailing” a teenager into sex and forcing him to watch pornography.
Timothy Schofield, 54, carried out a series of sexual offenses – the most serious of which involved an alleged sex act with the boy.

The abuse spanned a period of three years, during which the victim was a teenager.
Schofield was jailed for 12 years at Bristol Crown Court today.
The civilian police officer was previously convicted of allowing a child to watch sexual activity and three counts of sexual activity in the presence of a child.
He was also found guilty of three counts of causing a child to participate in sexual activity and two of sexual activity with a child after five hours of deliberation.
In an emotional victim impact statement, the boy told how he was left “bitter” and “lifeless” by the abuse.
He said he felt like he was trapped in a loop of fear and anxiety that only ended when Schofield was arrested.
The victim also spoke of the “massive” impact the abuse had not only on him, but also his family and his relationship with his girlfriend.
Sentencing, Mrs Justice Cutts criticized Schofield for exploiting the boy’s innocence for his own sexual gratification.
The judge added: “To do what you did, you only thought of yourself. Only of yourself.”
During a harrowing hearing, Exeter Crown Court was told he carried out the abuse while working for Avon and Somerset Police as an IT technician.
Robin Shellard, prosecuting, said the boy’s evidence showed the offending began when he was 13 years old.
Schofield plied the teenager with drink and then performed sex acts on him, acting like a “jealous lover” when he found a girlfriend.
In September 2021, Schofield called his famous brother Phillip in an “extreme state of disquiet”. management to his home in London for dinner.
As the This Morning host was washing up, his brother told him: “You’re going to hate me for what I’m going to say.”
In his written evidence, Phillip added: “I said there was nothing he could say that would make me hate him.”
The TV presenter said his brother told him he and the boy “had time together”, including watching pornography and “masturbating”.
Phillip added: “I turned around and said, ‘What did you just say?’ He said it was last year and we were alone together.
“Tim said it was just this one time. I told him it should never happen again.
“He then started telling me about (the victim’s) body.
“I said, ‘F***, stop’. I yelled at Tim to stop. I didn’t want to know any of the details, but he made it sound like a one-off.
“I said, ‘I don’t want you to tell me any more’. I said, ‘You have to stop, just don’t ever do it again. Regardless of how it happened, it must never happen again.’
The boy told jurors how he felt “emotionally blackmailed” and forced to go along with what happened to Schofield.
He added: “I felt that emotionally there was no escape from what we had to do and I felt that there was an enormous amount of pressure and expectation on me to fulfill what was asked and desired and I felt that that’s why I feel compelled to participate.”
But Schofield cried as he claimed he was “about to” take his own life.
He admitted to watching pornography and masturbating following to the boy, who he claimed was over 16 at the time, saying it was a “consensual thing”.
Schofield denied performing sex acts on the teenager and told jurors how he had been gay “all his life”.
Jurors were told he was looking for pornography, including “young boy teenage sex”.
Mitigating, Peter Binder said Schofield was a “broken man” after his arrest and had since acted as a “mentor” in prison.
Phillip disowned his brother in a damning statement after the verdict.
He said: “My overwhelming concern is and always has been for the well-being of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected.
“If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family.
“These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the convictions. As for me, I no longer have a brother.”
Schofield was dismissed by Avon and Somerset Police last month without notice.
The misconduct hearing was fast-tracked in the wake of his conviction.
