Jennifer Garner just put an effortless summer spin on one of this year’s sexiest trends: the exposed corset dress.

On May 18, Garner stepped out in a light, off-the-shoulder corset dress for the Rockout/Knockout Cancer event hosted by the St. Helena Hospital Foundation at Charter Oak Restaurant in California. The Alexander McQueen dress, which retails for $3490features a midi skirt, corseted bodice with visible boning, and, perhaps most importantly, pockets!

Although the exposed corset gives the summer dress a modern edge, Garner looks appropriately dressed for the past three decades in brown platform sandals, gold bracelets and hoop earrings. She topped off the classic ensemble with a light, glowing makeup look and wore her shoulder-length bob in loose waves. Now it is how you take a trend and make it timeless.

During a recent interview with People, Garner revealed a prank Coster-Waldau played on her while filming the emotional drama. “I spoke to Josh [Singer], and it looked like a background player came and sat next to me,” Garner shared. “And Josh kind of started smiling. And this person just got more and more comfortable next to me, and I thought, ‘I don’t know you.’

Turns out it was Coster-Waldau in a brand new look. “I was immediately just… I was so shocked. He was in a beard,” she explained. “They were testing his look for the last scene. And he just caught me completely, completely off guard. And you know, I cried, and I yelled at them. And then we went on.”
