On Sunday night, Veronica Beard marked the moment it has been waiting three years for: a Fashion week dinner at Veronika, the restaurant at Fotografiska.
Veronica Beard cofounders Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard hosted the dinner along with Laura Brown in honor of the brand’s fall campaign. Guests included Martha Stewart, Mindy Kaling, Rachel Brosnahan and sister Lydia Brosnahan, Zoey Deutch, Lily Rabe, Aurora James, Candice Huffine and Sutton Foster.
Printed newspapers, stacked in the restaurant lobby, featured campaign imagery and the brand’s fall mantra-slash-headline: “Breaking news: Women want clothes they can actually wear.”
“I am such a fan of this brand, all the clothes are so flattering,” said Kaling, donning one of the brand’s black suit sets. “They’re perfect for being a writer and a performer. I feel like the blazers are so good for the writer side of my life.”
The actress had attended the Ralph Lauren show Friday night, and stopped by the U.S. Open on Saturday. “It was amazing to just see the women’s final,” she added. As for what she’s looking forward to this fall post-Fashion week, Kaling offered a dose of reality: “I’d love for the strike to end to get back to work. That would be something that would be wonderful; I’m really looking forward to that.”
And, she has a new blazer queued up for the occasion: after the dinner main course, servers arrived at each table with silver platters of key rings, which guests could redeem at “coat check” for a Veronica Beard emblem blazer, complete with a monogrammed pocket-square.
Guests looking to acquire even more from brand can stop by the SoHo boutique later this week, when Brown is cohosting a charitable shopping event to benefit AIDS nonprofit (Red).
“We as a brand are all about looking good, feeling good and doing good,” said Swanson Beard, addressing the room at the start of dinner. “We’re celebrating the fall in an industry where we’re always looking six months ahead, 12 months ahead. We want to stop and actually just say ‘thank you’ and how lucky we feel to be here in this moment.”
Miele Beard seconded that notion. “Danny Meyer once said life is like business, and it’s all about how you make others feel,” she said. “We can look good and do good and feel good together.”
