Calvin Klein blasted by fans after advert with a transgender man modelling a bra goes viral
CALVIN Klein is the latest Fashion label to be caught up in a trans row after hiring a transgender man to model a sports bra.
The American brand – known for sexy ads featuring the likes of Mark Wahlberg and Kate Moss – has chosen bearded Dutch influencer Bappie Kortram for its Pride campaign.
He appears with a plus-size model named Jamilla.
One woman posted online: “It makes the clothes look ugly.”
Another wrote: “Great. A far cry from their haute couture ads.”
A third added: “In an attempt to appeal to a small minority, they are alienating a large majority.”


The two photos were released last year but resurfaced this week when GP Anastasia Maria Loupis shared them on Twitter, with the caption: “Calvin Klein wants to be broke.”
Bappie, who is currently fundraising to have his breasts removed, said when he was dumped: “I think it’s important to show that transmasc bodies with breasts should be celebrated.”
Adidas came under fire for using a male model to endorse a swimsuit while Nike used trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney in a sports bra ad.
