10 Magazine U.S. Edition Releases Debut Issue – celebritiestalks
LONDON – The U.S. edition of 10 Magazine on Thursday unveiled its first cover for the debut biannual issue.
Shot by Fanny Latour-Lambert, model Maaike Klaasen, and Xie Chaoyu appear on the cover wearing Dior with bangs that seemed to pay tribute to the American-Chinese actress Anna May Wong. Seven other covers are set to be unveiled in the coming days, cumulating to the official launch on Sept. 7.
Following a presence across social media platforms and a website since the beginning of this year, the first print issue is set to affirm its luxury positioning in the American market, according to Dora Fung, editor in chief of 10 Magazine USA.
Fung said she worked very closely with Sophia Neophitou, founder and global editor in chief of 10 Magazine, for the issue.
“When we first discussed it, we thought it was always going to be a challenge because people usually don’t support the first issue. But I was blown away by the amount of support we got. Everyone signed on, and Louis Vuitton took the back cover and signed on for the next two years. For people to be so excited about us, really does speak to our world and our industry. Print is something that people crave, especially in the luxury world,” added Fung.
Some Fashion editorials and features are shared between the British and America editions, such as a Gucci story shot in New York, and a Cartier high jewelry cover shoot, but Fung said she ended up producing a lot more U.S.-only stories than she had anticipated.
“It turned out that people want to have very American-centric stories, and it’s also important to make sure that I have American writers who understand the tone of the American culture, but also still keep up with the tone of 10,” added Fung, who prior to 10 has worked for publications including New York Magazine, CR Fashion Book and Vogue China, for almost two decades.
Highlights in the issue, according to Fung, include a story about “the five designers who are making New York Fashion Week fun again,” a long read about “what is the changing landscape of media in America,” as well as a deep dive with Luar designer Raul Lopez.
“To me, he is such a tense person. He is an independent designer born and bred in Brooklyn, and the community around him is his chosen family. He is someone who really epitomizes the world that you create. So we have a huge story about him and all the people that really have inspired him the last few years,” added Fung.

To fete the launch, a slew of events is set to roll out this coming Fashion month.
In New York, Olivia Kim, senior vice president at Nordstrom, will join Fung and Neophitou in hosting a dinner at Hotel Chelsea, while during London Fashion Week, the two will host a party at Claridges Art Space with 886 The Royal Mint. They will also host a dinner for advertisers at BeefBar in Milan, and another dinner with Cartier to wrap up the celebration in Paris.
Looking ahead, Fung said she is looking to work on dedicated projects that spotlight various major cities such as Miami and Los Angeles with their own ways of life.
Neophitou founded 10 Magazine more than 20 years ago, and it remains an independent and profitable publication. Having launched an Australian version in 2012, in an earlier interview, Neophitou said the U.S. edition could lead to further franchises, in France and Italy in particular.
